  10. The DataType reads bitmap images stored in the PNG (Portable Network
  11. Graphics) format.
  12.  
  13. The DataType supports all types of PNG-encoded images. Grayscale images
  14. are converted to palette-based images. This version of the DataType
  15. supports 24-bit DataType tag extensions, and can pass true color data to
  16. supporting applications. In a palette-based environment, true color (up
  17. to 48-bit) images are dithered using a fast Floyd-Steinberg method.

  19. This DataType also reads the Author, Copyright and Comment fields
  20. (DTA_ObjAuthor, DTA_ObjCopyright and DTA_ObjAnnotation DataType
  21. attributes).

  23. Two versions of the DataType are included here: 68000 and 68020+.
  24. Also included, an example of DataType-based image viewer (ViewDT), with
  25. source code.
